One person cannot help everybody, but everybody can help one person.’

This was the theme of Noyes Family’s Operation Stone Soup 2016.  In loving memory of their Mom (who’s 88th birthday would have been in November 2017), the Noyes family (11 kids and 30 grandchildren) passed out Thanksgiving care packages, including a turkey, to 88 families.

Sadly, the Noyes matriarch died suddenly from cancer in 2003.  Since then, the Noyes children and grandchildren have been celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday and their Mom and Grandmother (and her birthday) each year in a special way.

20161120_144250On Saturday, November 19th, the Noyes children bought the dry goods needed for the care packages and dropped them at their parish, St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church. There was over 1,200 cans of fruit and vegetables; 224 jars of gravy, and nearly 700 boxes of stuffing, potatoes and corn bread mix.  It took many trips to and from the cars to bring in these items.

20161119_140806On Sunday, November 20th, the Noyes children and grandchildren gatherer to compile the 88 care packages.  It was a lot of fun to get together and work together to help so many other families.  After doing it for many years,  the Noyes family, under the helm of the youngest sibling, Adam Noyes, the family is able to compile these packages in less than two hours.

On Tuesday, November 22nd, the Noyes children and grandchildren distributed the Thanksgiving care packages and turkeys to 88 less fortunate families at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church.  Through this family effort, the Noyes family is extremely honored to carry out the values their mother, Mary Noyes, instilled in both her own family and in the thousands of students she inspired over the years to engage in true community service,

Mary Noyes dedicated her life to helping others and her children carry on where she left off.  She was the music teacher at St. Cecelia School for 26 years where she taught some of her own children and even her grandchildren before she died from cancer in 2003.
